Joining the green thumbs in Chicago next week? Gardeners from all over the country are gathering in the Windy City the week of August 20th for listening, learning, sharing and a sense of community. In fact, a select group of social media green thumbs are getting together at a Peterson Garden Project site for a live #gardenchat! It’s a 2012 garden party you don’t want to miss.
So, don’t! If you are a garden blogger who passed on traveling to Chicago because you couldn’t fork out the green for a room, let us help. Bonnie Plants and P. Allen Smith have rooms to spare and we’d like to share. We want to support the writers who work so hard to tell their gardening stories and share experiences. If you are a garden writer or blogger, drop us a tweet with “@bonnieplants @pallensmith – Send me to #gardenchat to be with the growing community!” (or something creative with those tags; you are the writer!) by Friday, August 17th at 8:00am EST. You must include our Twitter handles and the #gardenchat hashtag to ensure we’ll see it.
You may be in town playing tourist. You may be in town for IGC. You may not have a ticket to IGC but want to tour the Peterson Garden Project and the many magnificent community gardens of the Windy City. We’ll help take the ouch out of your travel expense by sharing our two extra hotel rooms in a great spot. All that we ask is that once you return home, write a blog post or piece about your experiences with edible gardening, community gardening or being part of the #gardenchat community. Spread the excitement of “growing your own” and what you’ve seen in Chicago.
We have two rooms at the Chicago Crowne Plaza on the Magnificent Mile. We can sponsor one garden writer/blogger with a room for 3 nights (8/20-8/23; M,Tu,W) and one writer/blogger for 2 nights (8/20-8/22; M, Tu). We will notify the two recipients by Friday, August 17th at 5:00p EST, with random selection of which gets each room reservation.
