Do I need two tomato plants of the same variety (i.e., two Arkansas Travelers ) planted together for proper fruiting ?
Hi John,
No, tomatoes do not need to be planted together for cross-pollination like some plants, including tomatillo, do.

I have a 4×8 raised garden bed and would like to know how far apart should I plant tomatoes and the best way to stake them? thankyou
Hi Linda,
What type of tomatoes will you plant? Spacing depends on the growing characteristics of the varieties, such as indeterminate (will vine up to 8′ tall) or shorter, compact patio type tomatoes like Sweet n’ Neat. Also, check out our extensive “How to Grow Tomatoes” for details on staking, troubleshooting and harvesting.
