Hi Chon,
Sorry to hear it! There are several possibilities. An easy way to identify and avoid confusion is to compare photography. I have a Banana Pepper plant that has 4 or 5 large peppers on it and we are getting close to fall frost with nights cooling off into the 40’s and I am getting anxious about picking them but do not know how to tell if they are ripe or not. they seem to have stopped growing but have changed color in the last week or so but are still a very pale yellow. How do I know how long to let them go??

Hi Dixie,

It sounds like you could go ahead and pick these to avoid them being damaged by frost. Banana peppers can ripen to darker colors but are ready to pick when full-size and pale yellow as you’re describing. Hope you enjoy them!
