Use colorful salvia to add brilliance to containers and any flower bed, especially in mass. Plants have dark green foliage and full flower spikes all season. Annual salvia starts out a few inches tall, adding height as the season progresses. Plants grow tallest in regions where the warm season is long.
Salvia prefers fertile, well-drained soil that stays evenly moist. Plant in spring after all danger of frost is past. Feed with a timed-release fertilizer when you first plant. To keep the plants fresh all summer, pinch off the old bloom spikes toward the end of the season. This annual salvia is not the same as perennial salvia, which includes many red, blue, and purple species.
Some Bonnie Plants varieties may not be available at your local stores, as we select and sell varieties best suited to the growing conditions in each region.
