Asparagus-Yardlong Bean
- Pod size: Pick when 15-18 inches for most tender beans
- Matures: 70 days
Remarkable for their productivity and long, tender pods, Yardlong beans have an Asian heritage, but they have jumped any cultural divide. These beans can be prepared and served like pole and bush beans or used in stir fries or traditional Asian dishes. Plant after the weather is warm, spacing them 12 inches apart with at least a 6-foot trellis to support the vines. Plants grow quickly in warm weather. However, our strain was chosen because it grows and sets beans in cool weather better than others. Plants need to be picked daily in warm weather, and they can produce all season. Yardlong beans are borne in pairs. When picking, be careful not to remove the nearby flower bud for the next pair. Use small clippers or scissors for best results. In the kitchen, cut the green, red-seeded, stringless beans into bite-sized sections to prepare them for any recipe that calls for green beans.
Some Bonnie Plants varieties may not be available at your local stores, as we select and sell varieties best suited to the growing conditions in each region.

- Great tasty bean Review by Annie

Loved the whole bean taste at its young stage. As it got older on the vine, I didn't care for the bean pod and used the inside bean. It was easy to grow. Would've liked to have more plants. Looking for this in all the Bonnie Plant areas in Lake City, Fl. :) (Posted on 4/20/12)Taste Yield
