This edible ornamental pepper is fun for the whole family. When a plant is loaded with ripening peppers, the upright, twisted, finger-like fruits resemble the snaky hair-do of the mythological creature Medusa. Peppers ripen from ivory to yellow to orange to bright red. It’s not unusual to have all colors present on one plant.

Grow Medusa in flower beds or pots. Because the small fruits are sweet, this beauty is safe to have around children, who will be tempted to pick peppers. Fruits are edible, although the plant is typically grown for its ornamental appeal—indoors and out.
