This variety of Swiss chard boasts brilliantly colored stems. Use the leaves to jazz up a salad or as a bed for chicken or potato salads. The stems turn green when cooked.
Swiss Chard
- Leaf size: 18 to 24 inches
- Matures: 55 to 65 days
This variety of Swiss chard is as pretty as it is tasty. Large leaves with a prominent, flat wide mid-rib grow in an upright rosette that is beautiful in a bed or container. Grows best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade and even appreciates it in spring in hot climates. Highly nutritious, the leaves taste a lot like spinach, but this plant is a member of the beet family. Freezes well. Space plants12 to 24 inches apart.
Some Bonnie Plants varieties may not be available at your local stores, as we select and sell varieties best suited to the growing conditions in each region.
