Planting Projects: Cucumbers, Bell Peppers & Dill

  • Choose a container that is at least 24 inches in diameter and place it in a spot that gets at least 6 to 8 hours of sun.
  • Fill the big container to within 3 to 4 inches of the rim with premium potting mix, such as Miracle-Gro® Moisture Control® Potting Mix.
  • Plant the three plants, spacing them evenly within the big container.
  • Place a bamboo stake next to the pepper plant for support as it grows. For the cucumber, place a fan trellis beside the plant or position the big container so it is next to a railing or fence. As the cucumber plant grows, it will climb up the trellis.
  • Water thoroughly to settle the soil.
  • Cover the potting mix with mulch (such as pine straw, wheat straw, or chopped leaves) to help keep soil moist and help prevent weeds by blocking access to the sun.
