Southern Fried Green Tomatoes


Yield :   4 – 6  servings


  • 2 to 3 green tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • Vegetable oil for deep-frying


  • Sprinkle the tomato slices with salt and pepper. Dip each slice in the egg and coat with the flour. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  • Serve this simple and tart dish as a side for a meal or as an appetizer with your favorite dip.
