Bonnie Plants congratulates Fishing Pro Keith Poche on a very successful season! Keith concluded the 2011 Bassmasters Elite Series regular season tournaments this past weekend in Decatur, Alabama, with a 10th place finish and the tournament’s Big Fish Award. This was Keith’s second top 10 finish this year, with a 4th place finish being his highest in April on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama. All year, Keith competed toe-to-toe with the best bass fishermen in the world, making six “Top 50” cuts out of eight events. Keith narrowly missed the other two “Top 50” cuts by less than 1 pound combined.
While traveling this spring, Keith met and received overwhelming support from loyal Bonnie Plants customers noticing our logo on his truck, boat, and tournament jersey. Thousands of fans have been able to get Keith’s autograph and pose for photos with him at events or while he visited multiple retail garden centers across the country. Keith picked up several hundred more young fans as he met 3rd Graders across the state of Alabama while helping give out free cabbage plants for the Bonnie Plants National 3rd Grade Cabbage Program.
This has been an extremely successful year for Keith as he achieved his top goal of getting to the Bassmasters Classic. With a 10th place finish in the 2011 Angler of the Year race, Keith locked up his spot into the Bassmasters Classic event, which will be held next February in Shreveport, Louisiana. There is one remaining Elite Series event this July in Montgomery, Alabama, on the Alabama River. This will be an All-Star Event with only the Top 8 pros, plus four additional anglers voted in by the fans, getting to compete for a $100,000 first place prize. Keith’s 10th place finish just missed getting him into the Top 8 and he will need the support of all his fans to get enough votes to put him in the All-Star event as one of four fan favorites.
