There are few things more relaxing than a steaming mug of hot tea—and even better when that tea is brewed from freshly picked herbs from your very own garden. Bee balm, lemon balm, lemon verbena, and lavender all taste wonderful when steeped in hot water—and let's not forget mint! Let your taste buds be your guide and choose from peppermint, spearmint, sweet mint, and even chocolate mint.
Consider placing your 4 x 4 Tea Garden near your kitchen door if you can, so you'll be able to pick ingredients to brew whenever you feel the urge. For excellent results, fill containers with premium quality raised bed soil, such as Miracle-Gro® Performance Organics® Raised Bed Mix (it's the ideal weight and texture for raised bed growing), and feed plants regularly with nutrient-filled Miracle-Gro® Performance Organics® Raised Bed Plant Nutrition Granules. What's more, be sure to fill your Tea Garden with strong, vigorous young Bonnie Plants®, from a company that's been helping home gardeners succeed for over a century.
Planting the 4 X 4-Foot Bed
Take inspiration from these planting options, but feel free to mix things up a bit based on your tastes. These plants are pictured small to make the illustration simpler, but your bed will be spilling over as the plants grow! Follow the spacing guidelines found on the individual plant tags, and know that you can add a few more plants than we have pictured if your bed is a bit larger. Just be sure to plant the mint in pots sunk into the soil, so the plants don't take over your garden.
