Big Beef Tomato (2 Pack)

For years gardeners wanted a large, beefsteak-type tomato that was delicious, early to bear, and highly disease resistant. Finally in 1994 those wishes came true with Big Beef. The large fruit has old-time tomato flavor and the vines are resistant to many of the problems that can discourage gardeners. The fruit is borne on vigorous, indeterminate vines from summer until frost. Compared to other beefsteak types, Big Beef is early and will set fruit reliably even in cool, wet weather. We harvest dozens of tomatoes from each plant in our Alabama test garden, where the harvest season lasts two full months and the growing conditions are very good. It grows well throughout the country, earning it an All America Selections designation in 1994; it has since grown to be a national favorite. When gardeners talk about the "first" tomatoes, Early Girl is always there. This may be the most all-round popular hybrid to satisfy that itch for the first fresh tomato of the season. Use them for slicing on a place, into a salad, or on a sandwich. This a proven all-round early hybrid. Use it to jump start your harvest. Early Girl bears lots of fruit for early harvest, but because the vines are indeterminate, they continue producing through summer. Beefsteak Red Tomato (2 Pack)

Beefsteaks are always grown for their flavor and size for slicing and summer sandwiches. This variety produces large, meaty red fruit over a long season on indeterminate plants. Because it matures late compared to many other tomatoes, it will provide a fresh harvest in the latter part of the season. Ace 55 Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. Large, deep red fruit with low acid content--one of the few red tomatoes to be able to make that claim. Crack-resistant. Heavy foliage shades fruit to protect from it sunburn. Plant is not overly tall, but still benefits from staking. Good for containers. This tried and true variety is resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), and alternaria stem canker (ASC). Amelia Tomato

A great garden tomato, this variety is especially popular in Texas, where it made its debut at the 2004 and 2005 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Amelia is a hybrid with outstanding disease resistance and resistance to cracking. High-yielding vines bear tomatoes prized for their flavor. Because it makes a nice, neat plant, Amelia is cooperative in containers, too. One of the few tomatoes resistant to spotted wilt virus, it is popular not only in Texas, but throughout the Southeast. These big tomatoes are the size expected from a home garden. Amelia produces a lot of tomatoes (20 to 30 pounds per plant) over about a month's harvest time in our Alabama test garden, where the growing conditions are excellent. Black Prince Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. Admittedly, it is difficult to imagine growing tomatoes in Siberia, but this delicious heirloom hails from that very region. This is a fairly early tomato, and one that is more apt to set fruit in cool climates. The small, dark-red, slightly pear-shaped fruits begin maturing a little more than 2 months after planting, no matter where you live. Black Prince has been a very productive heirloom in our test garden, yielding from 25 to 40 pounds of tomatoes per plant over a 3-month harvest season. The flavor is worthy of a chef's table! Vigorous vines grow best in tall cages.

Better Boy Tomato (2 Pack)

High yields of smooth skinned, large fruit earn Better Boy a spot as one of the most popular tomatoes grown in the US and as one of our all time best sellers. Bush Early Girl Tomato

This hybrid is a relative of the well-known standard-sized Early Girl yet produces more tomatoes than many other compact varieties. The determinate vines form strong bushes perfect for containers. Cherokee Purple - Heirloom Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. Cherokee Purple seeds, originating from Tennessee, are thought to have been passed down from Native Americans of the Cherokee tribe. This heirloom tomato variety consistently ranks very high in taste tests. Slice Cherokee Purple tomato for rich, dark color and unmatched sweet, rich taste on sandwiches or in salads. The tomato is a beautiful dusky pink with a deep, rich-red interior. Cherokee Purple grows well in most regions of the U.S. Let the fruit ripen on the vine for the best flavor. A gorgeous dusky purple beefsteak with rich, complex flavor, this hybrid is a cross between two heirloom taste-test winners, Cherokee Purple and Carbon. Makes one of the most delicious tomato sandwiches you’ll ever taste! Cherokee Carbon tends to produce more fruit than either of its parents. Plants can get pretty tall, so be sure to support them with strong stakes or sturdy cages.

Creole Tomato

For gardeners and cooks in Louisiana, summer is not summer without Creole tomatoes. Although relatively late to ripen, those loyal to Creole tomatoes are willing to wait. Creole tomatoes can tolerate heat and humidity, ripening into a meatier-than-average tomato with outstanding flavor. Developed at LSU for warm, humid areas, the indeterminate vines delight gardeners with high yields of juicy fruit that resists cracking. Vines are vigorous, so use tall cages. German Johnson Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. For quality that has stood the test of time, German Johnson stands tall — literally. These big, pink-red tomatoes are borne on robust plants that can fill a tomato cage and drape back down again. Give them at least 3 feet between plants and then pick the flavorful sandwich-sized slicers as they ripen. The number of tomatoes may be less than other varieties, but the ones you bring to the table will be worthy of their space in the garden. In our Alabama test garden, where conditions are ideal and the season is long, we harvested an average of 40 fruits per plant. German Johnson calls North Carolina home, so it is suited to life in humidity. This one is a favorite at farmers' markets in the Carolinas in the summer when the local crops come in. Be sure to stake strongly or cage.

German Queen Heirloom Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. This old-fashioned beefsteak has large, sweet fruits that are lower in acid and quite meaty, making them perfect for slicing. The indeterminate vines will grow tall and bear fruit all summer long, so be sure to stake strongly or cage. One slice makes a great sandwich filling!

Golden Jubilee Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. First introduced in 1943 as an All-America Selection, Jubilee bears large tomatoes with very meaty, thick-walled interiors and mild flavor. The globe-shaped, golden-orange fruit is similar to Sunray. Has meaty, thick walls and few seeds. High yielding. Heatmaster Tomato

Heatmaster holds its own in hot Southern gardens, where temperatures are frequently high. A determinate hybrid tomato, plants produce strongly oblong fruits perfect for halving or quartering into salads. Medium-size fruits typically ripen in roughly 75 days. Heatmaster performs well as a fall crop in warmer zones. Plants are resistant to alternaria stem canker (Aal), gray leaf spot (Ss), verticillium (V), fusarium (F), tomato mosaic virus (ToMV), and Southern root-knot nematode (Mi/Ma/Mj).

Husky Red Cherry Tomato (2 Pack)

This super sweet cherry tomato is a best seller because of its flavor, productivity, and good looks. If you like to snack on cherry tomatoes, this is a great choice. One of the popular "Husky" series developed especially for home gardens, the plant is stout, dark green and really pretty; it's one of the prettiest tomato plants that we grow. Heirloom. An old favorite dating from 1954. Developed by the University of Florida especially for hot climates and known for its reliability to set fruit at high temperatures. Produces firm, meaty tomatoes. Large vines help shade fruit to protect from sunburn, and will need to be staked or caged. Plants in our test garden, where the growing conditions are ideal, bear an average of 50 pounds of fruit over a 6 to 7 week period. Resistant to fusarium wilt (F). Juliet Roma Grape Tomato

Slightly larger than the well-known Santa grape tomato, Juliet bears delicious, sweet fruit on indeterminate vines. Some gardeners refer to it as a mini Roma because of the shape. The wonderfully sweet fruit are crack resistant and remain in good condition on the vine longer than most cherry tomatoes. The fruit are as soft and juicy as cherry tomatoes, they hold up well in salads, even leftovers, and they have a longer shelf life so you can keep them on hand without picking every day. The vigorous vines set lots of fruit on long trusses and keep setting fruit throughout the summer. Quite heat tolerant. Vines are long and vigorous, so give the plant room to tumble over its cage. Jet Star Tomato

Heavy yields of firm, meaty, low-acid tomatoes are crack-resistant and especially popular in the northern US since its introduction in 1969. The vines are indeterminate but fairly compact. Plants in our Alabama test garden, where conditions are excellent and the harvest season is long, yield more than 100 tomatoes each over a period of couple of months. Resistant to verticillium wilt (V) and fusarium wilt (F).

Lemon Boy Yellow Tomato

Lemon Boy hybrid is an eye-catching tomato with wonderful color and flavor. The deep globe fruit is slightly tangy, but also sweet and mild, meaty, and smooth — perfect for slicing. Adds visual interest to the garden! Vines grow rather tall, so be sure to stake or cage the plant. The highly adaptable indeterminate vines are resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), nematodes (N), alternaria stem canker (A), and gray leaf spot (St).

Better Bush Tomato

This is a great choice that bears sizeable fruits on a very compact plant that works well in containers and small gardens. Especially strong, bushy plants bear truly tasty, medium-sized tomatoes great for sandwiches and slicing. The heavy foliage of this hybrid helps protect tomatoes from sunburn. In our Alabama test garden where the growing season is long and the soil is ideal, plants produce from 90 to 120 tomatoes each over a two-month harvest period. Keep the big harvest going with successive, monthly plantings through July for a fall harvest. Plants are strong and upright, but will still do best in a small cage or on a stake for support. Big Boy Tomato (2 Pack)

The name, Big Boy, is easy to remember and so is the flavor. This is a big, sandwich-type slicer with smooth, bright red fruit and a flavor that everybody likes. It bears heavily in mid-season, yet the indeterminate vines continue fruiting (though not as heavily) until frost. Plants in our Alabama test garden, where conditions are excellent, have yielded 100 tomatoes each through a 10-week harvest season. Long vines need staking, or grow the plant in a tall cage. Resistant to cracking.

Marion Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. Developed by the USDA vegetable station in Charleston, South Carolina in 1960, Marion is open-pollinated and well adapted to the South. A Rutgers type, but earlier and more disease-resistant. Indeterminate vines bear smooth, deep-globed, and crack resistant fruit all season. High yielding and vigorous, so be sure to stake or cage. A great slicing tomato. Resistant to fusarium wilt (F) and gray leaf spot (St). Only available in the following state, in limited quantity: MS

Mr. Stripey Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. These huge, beefsteak-type red-and yellow fruits with a high sugar content are delicious and pretty to slice because of the bi-coloring. Although the variety is called Mr. Stripey, don't expect perfect stripes. This is an heirloom and no two tomatoes are ever the same. The background color of the tomato is yellow to light orange, and the red often appears in little spots that align themselves in stripes radiating from the stem end of the fruit. Indeterminate vines produce through the season; they are vigorous, so use tall cages. Popular in the mid-South and beyond. Resistant to late blight (LB).

Park's Whopper Improved Tomato

If the classic Park's Whopper could be improved, this tomato does it with greater disease resistance, higher yield, and a longer growing season. Big, juicy, meaty sandwich-sized tomatoes appear early on indeterminate vines that continue until frost. Plants in our Alabama test garden, where conditions are ideal and the harvest lasts two months, bear 60 to 80 pounds of tomatoes. These vines are vigorous, so be sure to stake or cage well. Patio Tomato

Patio hybrid is excellent for containers and small gardens, bearing tasty 3 to 4 oz tomatoes on strong, compact plants that grow only 2 feet tall. The stout stems generally do not need much staking at first, but it won't hurt to have stake or small cage to keep them upright in wind and rain, especially when loaded with fruit. This little plant is surprisingly productive. In our Alabama test garden, where growing conditions are very good, it yields 50 or more tomatoes per plant over an 8-week harvest period. Pink Brandywine Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. This popular beefsteak-sized, Amish tomato produces rosy pink fruits loaded with an old-fashioned tomato taste that has been prized for decades. It is considered one of the benchmarks for intense tomato flavor. The indeterminate vines are vigorous, so use tall cages. Vines yield tomatoes that ripen gradually until frost. Plants have "potato leaf" foliage. The tangy taste of Brandywine is a gourmet cook's delight.

Bush Goliath Tomato (2 Pack)

Goliath hybrid tomatoes have classic beefsteak shape and flavor with firm, light red fruit that have few seeds. Roma Tomato (2 pack)

Prized for its use in tomato paste and sauces, Roma produces a large harvest of thick-walled, meaty, bright red, egg-shaped tomatoes about 3 Inches Long and with few seeds. This tomato is not juicy. This is not a slicing tomato. Instead, the flesh is thick and drier so that it will cook down into a thick sauce. Cooking intensifies flavor, too. If you can tomatoes, make your own spaghetti sauce, or like to chop a tomato into an omelet, this is a great choice. It's not too juicy in the pan compared to slicing tomatoes. The fruit freezes well for later cooking, too. The compact, determinate vines are resistant to verticillium wilt (V) and fusarium wilt (F) and widely adapted throughout the US. Seattle's Best Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. Seattle's Best of All is a good choice for the cool climate of the Pacific Northwest, where earliness and the ability to fruit without a lot of accumulated hot weather is important. This is a mild tasting, slicing tomato that comes in toward the end of the early season varieties.Vines are vigorous and benefit from strong staking or tall cages. Sun Sugar Yellow Cherry Tomato (2 Pack)

Although called yellow cherry, these little tomatoes are orange at their peak, making almost more bite-sized bursts of sweetness than you can imagine on each plant. A single healthy plant is capable of producing hundreds. Several years ago, Sun Sugar was named by Sunset magazine as the best tasting tomato in their trials for its sweetness and rich tomato flavor that includes just the right amount of tartness. This disease-resistant plant is one of our very best cherry tomatoes and are easy to grow. The fruits are fantastic for salads or to just set out in bowls for snacking. Give the vines plenty of room; they can get 7 feet long or more and will bear through heat until frost, so give them a tall cage for support. When Sweet 100 tomato was first introduced it created a buzz among gardeners because it is so tasty and produces for such a long time. Tami G Grape Tomato (2 Pack)

Gardeners who have grown Tami G grape tomatoes appreciate her hybrid qualities, both in the garden and at the table. These firm, sweet, dark-red grape tomatoes grow 1 1/4 inch long x 3/4 inch wide, perfect for a healthy snack or salad. Tami G grape tomatoes grow into a vigorous vine that can reach 8 to 9 feet tall in a season, easily growing over the top of the cage and back down again. Yellow Pear Heirloom Cherry Tomato

Heirloom. Long, indeterminate vines produce a seemingly endless supply of mild flavored, pear-shaped tomatoes all summer. The tiny tomatoes are borne in clusters. This is one of the prettiest tomatoes in the garden -- it's beautiful in salads! This variety is known to bear fruit dependably through summer weather. Vines can grow 8 feet or longer, so give them a tall support or place to ramble. Moderately resistant to late blight (LB).

San Marzano Tomato

Heirloom. Discover why gourmet and home chefs around the world seek out San Marzano tomatoes. These teardrop-shaped, meaty, plum-type tomatoes are famous for their sweet, complex flavor that creates a fabulous pasta sauce. Choose San Marzano tomatoes if you like to can whole tomatoes, whip up homemade tomato sauce, or freeze slow-roasted tomatoes. These tomatoes also taste great chopped into salads and sliced onto sandwiches. These vigorous indeterminate tomatoes produce heavy fruit loads and need sturdy, tall stakes or cages. Rutgers Heirloom Tomato

Heirloom. An old favorite, Rutgers is proven to be highly productive. The large, red fruits have a thick flesh with superior flavor. Strong determinate vines yield a large initial crop followed by several flushes of fruit. This is one of those classic tomatoes that has been used as a parent in the breeding of many other hybrids. Seldom has problems with cracking. Resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), and alternaria stem canker (A).

Summer Set Tomato

High temperatures don't usually affect fruit set on Summer Set tomato. This hybrid tomato has the genes to set fruit even during summer's intense heat. The large, globe-shaped tomatoes boast a firm texture and ripen relatively quickly. Count on Summer Set to add classic tomato flavor to salads and sandwiches. Fruit resists cracking even during the rainiest growing conditions. Since plants are only semi-determinate, plan to stake or cage them at the time of planting.
