Black Beauty Eggplant (2 Pack)

Beefsteaks are always grown for their flavor and size for slicing and summer sandwiches. This variety produces large, meaty red fruit over a long season on indeterminate plants. Big Beef Tomato (2 Pack)

For years gardeners wanted a large, beefsteak-type tomato that was delicious, early to bear, and highly disease resistant. Finally in 1994 those wishes came true with Big Beef. The large fruit has old-time tomato flavor and the vines are resistant to many of the problems that can discourage gardeners. The fruit is borne on vigorous, indeterminate vines from summer until frost. Compared to other beefsteak types, Big Beef is early and will set fruit reliably even in cool, wet weather. We harvest dozens of tomatoes from each plant in our Alabama test garden, where the harvest season lasts two full months and the growing conditions are very good. It grows well throughout the country, earning it an All America Selections designation in 1994; it has since grown to be a national favorite. Bonnie Original Tomato (2 Pack)

Bonnie Original hybrid was developed especially for us decades ago and continues to be a favorite. It has earned a reputation for exceptional flavor and high yields throughout the growing season. The medium-sized slicing tomatoes are great for sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, and salads. Indeterminate vines yield smooth, uniform fruit through the summer until frost. This is the one that Bonnie employees grow at home.Resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), and nematodes (N).

Cayenne Pepper (2 Pack)

Light: Full sun. Fruit size: 5 to 6 inches. Matures: 70 to 75 days. Plant spacing: 12 to 18 inches apart. Plant size: 18 to 24 inches tall. Scoville heat units: 30,000 to 50,000 (hot). This very hot pepper is the prime ingredient in Cayenne pepper, which is made when the dried peppers are ground into powder. This is also the favored spice of Creole and Cajun cuisine used to give gumbo and crayfish dishes their punch. Thin-walled, skinny, wrinkled fruits are 5 to 6 Inches long and very hot. However, they will not be hot when small. Wait until they get at least 5 or 6 Inches long to pick hot ones. They can be substituted for most dishes calling for Serrano, Jalapeno, or Habanero peppers. When gardeners talk about the "first" tomatoes, Early Girl is always there. This may be the most all-round popular hybrid to satisfy that itch for the first fresh tomato of the season. Heirloom. Good looks and great taste combine in Lacinato kale, which makes a striking addition to any garden setting. Dark blue-green to black leaves often have a heavily crinkled texture, which inspires one of its many common names, dinosaur kale. The flattened leaves are perfect for making kale chips. This kale dates to 18th-century Italy, which is why it's also called Tuscan kale. Thomas Jefferson grew it in his garden at Monticello. Cherokee Purple - Heirloom Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. Cherokee Purple seeds, originating from Tennessee, are thought to have been passed down from Native Americans of the Cherokee tribe. This heirloom tomato variety consistently ranks very high in taste tests. Slice Cherokee Purple tomato for rich, dark color and unmatched sweet, rich taste on sandwiches or in salads. The tomato is a beautiful dusky pink with a deep, rich-red interior. Cherokee Purple grows well in most regions of the U.S. Let the fruit ripen on the vine for the best flavor. Named for the town of Jalapa, Mexico, this is the most popular chile pepper in the United States. Jalapeño produces 3-inch, thick-walled, moderately hot pods with deep green color that matures to a bright red. The skin may show a netting pattern as fruit ages, but it does not affect flavor. Often, the heat of the peppers will vary, even those from the same plant. If peppers grow fast, get plenty of water, and are harvested soon, they may be milder than peppers that stay on the plant a long time, or that develop slowly and under stressful conditions. You’ve probably heard of the ghost pepper, as it has made its name as one of the hottest peppers in the world. Fruits ripen from green to bright red, and have thin, wrinkled skins. Roma Tomato (2 pack)

Prized for its use in tomato paste and sauces, Roma produces a large harvest of thick-walled, meaty, bright red, egg-shaped tomatoes about 3 Inches Long and with few seeds. This tomato is not juicy. This is not a slicing tomato. Instead, the flesh is thick and drier so that it will cook down into a thick sauce. Cooking intensifies flavor, too. If you can tomatoes, make your own spaghetti sauce, or like to chop a tomato into an omelet, this is a great choice. It's not too juicy in the pan compared to slicing tomatoes. Grow the pepper that’s long been prized by restaurants and is a favorite among chefs. Shishito is a Japanese sweet pepper that produces handfuls of finger-long fruits. Usually used when green (though also fine to eat when red), the peppers are thin-walled, making them ideal for tempura and stir fries. On this side of the Pacific, it’s wildly popular as an appetizer—tossed with oil, then char-grilled or pan-seared to a blackened, blistered state and salted. A great garden tomato, this variety is especially popular in Texas, where it made its debut at the 2004 and 2005 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Amelia is a hybrid with outstanding disease resistance and resistance to cracking. High-yielding vines bear tomatoes prized for their flavor. Because it makes a nice, neat plant, Amelia is cooperative in containers, too. One of the few tomatoes resistant to spotted wilt virus, it is popular not only in Texas, but throughout the Southeast. These big tomatoes are the size expected from a home garden. Amelia produces a lot of tomatoes (20 to 30 pounds per plant) over about a month's harvest time in our Alabama test garden, where the growing conditions are excellent. Black Prince Heirloom Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. Admittedly, it is difficult to imagine growing tomatoes in Siberia, but this delicious heirloom hails from that very region. This is a fairly early tomato, and one that is more apt to set fruit in cool climates. The small, dark-red, slightly pear-shaped fruits begin maturing a little more than 2 months after planting, no matter where you live. Black Prince has been a very productive heirloom in our test garden, yielding from 25 to 40 pounds of tomatoes per plant over a 3-month harvest season. The flavor is worthy of a chef's table! For gardeners and cooks in Louisiana, summer is not summer without Creole tomatoes. Although relatively late to ripen, those loyal to Creole tomatoes are willing to wait. Creole tomatoes can tolerate heat and humidity, ripening into a meatier-than-average tomato with outstanding flavor. Developed at LSU for warm, humid areas, the indeterminate vines delight gardeners with high yields of juicy fruit that resists cracking. Vines are vigorous, so use tall cages. German Johnson Heirloom Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. For quality that has stood the test of time, German Johnson stands tall — literally. These big, pink-red tomatoes are borne on robust plants that can fill a tomato cage and drape back down again. Give them at least 3 feet between plants and then pick the flavorful sandwich-sized slicers as they ripen. The number of tomatoes may be less than other varieties, but the ones you bring to the table will be worthy of their space in the garden. In our Alabama test garden, where conditions are ideal and the season is long, we harvested an average of 40 fruits per plant. German Johnson calls North Carolina home, so it is suited to life in humidity. This one is a favorite at farmers' markets in the Carolinas in the summer when the local crops come in. Be sure to stake strongly or cage.

Golden Jubilee Tomato (2 Pack)

Heirloom. First introduced in 1943 as an All-America Selection, Jubilee bears large tomatoes with very meaty, thick-walled interiors and mild flavor. The globe-shaped, golden-orange fruit is similar to Sunray. Has meaty, thick walls and few seeds. High yielding. The indeterminate vines benefit from strong staking or caging, and are widely adapted throughout the US except in northernmost portions. Resistant to alternaria stem canker (A).

Heatmaster Tomato (2 Pack)

Heatmaster holds its own in hot Southern gardens, where temperatures are frequently high. A determinate hybrid tomato, plants produce strongly oblong fruits perfect for halving or quartering into salads. Medium-size fruits typically ripen in roughly 75 days. Heatmaster performs well as a fall crop in warmer zones. Plants are resistant to alternaria stem canker (Aal), gray leaf spot (Ss), verticillium (V), fusarium (F), tomato mosaic virus (ToMV), and Southern root-knot nematode (Mi/Ma/Mj).

Slightly larger than the well-known Santa grape tomato, Juliet bears delicious, sweet fruit on indeterminate vines. Some gardeners refer to it as a mini Roma because of the shape. The wonderfully sweet fruit are crack resistant and remain in good condition on the vine longer than most cherry tomatoes. The fruit are as soft and juicy as cherry tomatoes, they hold up well in salads, even leftovers, and they have a longer shelf life so you can keep them on hand without picking every day. The vigorous vines set lots of fruit on long trusses and keep setting fruit throughout the summer. Quite heat tolerant. Vines are long and vigorous, so give the plant room to tumble over its cage. Lemon Boy hybrid is an eye-catching tomato with wonderful color and flavor. The deep globe fruit is slightly tangy, but also sweet and mild, meaty, and smooth — perfect for slicing. Adds visual interest to the garden! Vines grow rather tall, so be sure to stake or cage the plant. The highly adaptable indeterminate vines are resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), nematodes (N), alternaria stem canker (A), and gray leaf spot (St).

Heirloom. These huge, beefsteak-type red-and yellow fruits with a high sugar content are delicious and pretty to slice because of the bi-coloring. Although the variety is called Mr. Stripey, don't expect perfect stripes. This is an heirloom and no two tomatoes are ever the same. The background color of the tomato is yellow to light orange, and the red often appears in little spots that align themselves in stripes radiating from the stem end of the fruit. Indeterminate vines produce through the season; they are vigorous, so use tall cages. Popular in the mid-South and beyond. Resistant to late blight (LB).

Heirloom. An old favorite, Rutgers is proven to be highly productive. The large, red fruits have a thick flesh with superior flavor. Strong determinate vines yield a large initial crop followed by several flushes of fruit. This is one of those classic tomatoes that has been used as a parent in the breeding of many other hybrids. Heirloom. Very easy to grow. This is not a tomato, but is a relative with a very tart, unique flavor that is the key ingredient in salsa verde. Tomatillo is a round, green fruit produced inside a papery husk, which also earns it the name husk tomato. The papery husk is removed before eating. The fruit is used while it is still a green color. If you open the husk and it has begun to turn yellow, it is actually past its prime. A popular Mexican and Southwestern ingredient for sauces and salads.
