Instructions

  • Heat oil to 350°F. If you are using a pot or skillet to fry on your stovetop, be sure the oil is at least 1.5 inches deep.
  • Mix all dipping sauce ingredients together and set aside. Combine the flour, water, and beaten egg together in a small bowl and mix until smooth. Coat each pepper slice in the batter.
  • Carefully place battered rings into the hot oil (a fork works very well for this if you don't have a skimmer or fry basket). Cook for 5-8 minutes or until coating is crispy and golden brown.
  • Scoop rings out with a skimmer or slotted spoon, shake gently to remove excess oil, then transfer to a paper towel-lined baking sheet. Add salt and pepper to taste, toss to coat, and serve immediately.

Featured Ingredient: Sweet Snacking Peppers

Sweet snacking and mini peppers are wonderful to have on hand. With the sweet flavor and juicy crunch of a larger bell pepper, these peppers are smaller and have fewer seeds, making them great to eat as snacks. Sweet snacking peppers are ideal for eating straight off the plant, chopped fresh in salads, or sliced thin for stir-fries. Plants tend to yield high numbers of fruits, and they grow beautifully in containers, too. This is one type of pepper that is definitely worth having in your garden!
